MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — COVID-19 numbers in the state of Wisconsin continued to fall on Wednesday.
The number of new coronavirus cases in Wisconsin were down, along with testing levels, while deaths were once again above seven-day averages on Wednesday.
The state Department of Health Services reported 3,777 new confirmed infections, or 37.8% of the 9,983 total tests completed. Another 82 deaths were reported.
Those numbers compared to seven-day averages of 3,664 cases, 31% test positivity and 46 deaths.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 395,090 confirmed cases, nearly 2.6 million negative tests and 3,502 deaths. As of Wednesday, DHS considered 319,426 people to have recovered from COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus.
The state’s alternate care facility near Milwaukee had eight patients on Wednesday morning, one more than on Tuesday.
Overall hospital numbers continued to decline along with new cases on Wednesday. The Wisconsin Hospital Association said there were 1,780 COVID-19 patients, down 47 from Tuesday and 112 from a week earlier. Of those, 397 were in intensive care, 18 fewer than on Tuesday and 44 fewer than a week earlier.
