MADISON, WI (WSAU) – A former high school principal in Wisconsin was sentenced to five years in federal prison for possession of child pornography.
David A. Hay, 40, was sentenced in federal court as part of a plea deal last week. Charges stemmed from an incident in which he sent graphic photos of himself to what he thought was a 15-year-old boy, who turned out to be an undercover officer.
Hay was arrested at Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee when he thought he was going to meet the boy for sex. Officers also found other sexually explicit materials on his phone including photos of a 14-year-old former student.
Investigators say that student never had sexual contact with Hay.
Hay, who had moved to Brooklyn, New York, was originally from Antigo. He’d been the principal at Tomah High School and Kettle Moraine High School.
When he has completed his jail sentenced, Hay will be on supervised release for 10 years. He will also be required to keep his address on file with the sex offender registry for the rest of his life.
