GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Brown County would acquire the former Pulliam power plant site for $2.7 million, and already has a deal in place to sell part of the site, according to information supplied for Wednesday’s County Board meeting.
The former WPS coal power plant was decommissioned in 2016. Local government leaders have eyed the site as a possible place to relocate the coal piles in downtown managed by C. Reiss Coal Company. But a different company is on deck for the first redevelopment of the site.
According to the agenda for Wednesday’s County Board meeting (starting on page 51), Brown County would purchase the 43.75-acre site for $2.7 million, using a state grant and funds from the port’s enterprise fund. It would then sell 9.7 acres to GLC Minerals for $876,000.
The county could then continue talks with Reiss for a possible move to what’s left of the county’s property.
The County Board meets virtually at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
