WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Winnebago County has launched a coronavirus vaccine scheduling tool while a Fox Valley health system is urging patience.
The developments come before Wisconsin expands vaccine eligibility on Monday. That’s when more than 2 million people age 16 and older with chronic conditions will become eligible to receive shots.
“With an estimated additional 250,000 people becoming eligible in our service area next week, it is important to remember that this is going to take time,” Dr. Mark Cockley, ThedaCare Chief Clinical Officer, said in a news release. “We appreciate the community’s patience as we work through coordinating vaccines. Our goal is to ensure a smooth, easy process for all who choose to receive their vaccine.”
Appleton-based ThedaCare says it expects to receive 1,932 doses of vaccine between March 17 and 30. ThedaCare says it will contact its patients through the MyThedaCare system as it has vaccine available.
Winnebago County’s online tool includes information for scheduling shots at mass vaccination clinics in the Fox Valley, as well as through local health systems and clinics. It also includes information on finding a ride to a vaccination appointment and a hotline for COVID-19 questions.
