MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Volunteers at the St. Joseph Food Program in the Fox Valley cut a ribbon on a new food distribution model.
The pantry is now offering drive-up distribution.
People can call ahead to see how much food they can get. Once they arrive, volunteers bag the food and put it in recipients’ vehicles.
“It’s easy, it’s contactless, but there’s still an opportunity for our volunteers to have that one-on-one contact with the clients that is so important to them,” St. Joseph Food Program Executive Director Monica Clare said.
The new distribution model has been in place for about a week.
Pantry officials say this will protect volunteers from weather conditions that would otherwise affect them.
