GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A person died after their SUV caught fire in a crash on I-41 Friday morning.
Crews were called to the two-vehicle crash near College Ave. shortly before 1 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers saw a box truck and SUV had crashed with the SUV on fire.
Officers and a bystander on scene used fire extinguishers to put it out.
The driver of the SUV was found dead inside the vehicle.
The driver of the box truck was taken to the hospital for injuries.
A secondary crash happened in the same location as a result of the original crash. The drivers from both vehicles involved were taken to local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.
The northbound lanes of I-41 were closed for several hours for crash reconstruction and investigation.
