GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – One person was found dead after a house fire Saturday morning in Grand Chute.
Grand Chute fire officials say the fire occurred at 2323 E. Wisconsin Avenue at 8:39 a.m. A dog was also found deceased.
When crews entered the home, smoke was present but no flames were observed. Grand Chute says the fire had burned out prior to their arrival.
Officials say the cause of the fatal fire is unknown at this time.
An investigation of the fire is underway by the Grand Chute Fire Department, Grand Chute police, and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation. Including the DCI in the investigation is standard procedure after a fatality, per officials.
The Grand Chute Fire Department reminds the public to check their smoke alarms monthly.
Appleton Fire Department and Fox Crossing Fire Department were also dispatched to assist Grand Chute.
