MADISON, WI (WTAQ) — The head of the state’s largest business group is criticizing President Joe Biden’s incoming vaccine mandate for employers with more than 100 employees.
Kurt Bauer with Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce says it puts businesses in a bad position.
“We don’t think it’s appropriate to make employers the vaccine police for their employees,” he told WTAQ on Monday.
Bauer says that among their members, the mandate has a mixed reaction.
“Some of our members would like to see the mandate,” said Bauer. “They would like to see their workforce vaccinated and want to see the government be the ‘heavy’ on it. Others are very concerned about it.”
The mandate, announced next week, hasn’t been formally published by OSHA.
“Frankly, we need to see what OSHA comes out with for their emergency rule,” Bauer said. “We’re all operating on guessing, and until we actually see the rule it’s hard to predict what will actually happen.”
Bauer says he expects there to be legal challenges, specifically around 10th amendment concerns.
