FOX CROSSING, WI (WTAQ) – Late night calls can get weird for police, especially in the weeks leading up to Halloween. That was case for Fox Crossing Police officers who showed up at a popular haunted house just after midnight on Sunday morning.
“It was kind of a weird call, but quickly addressed and quickly resolved,” said Fox Crossing Police Community Liaison Officer, Dan Wiechman. “There was a small group of protesters that were just expressing their thoughts about abortion and about Satanism and their beliefs against both of those things, trying to reach out to people that were in attendance…apparently they’re trying to target a specific audience in getting their message heard. Of course, they have that right to do so.”
There were potential concerns over those protesters being on Burial Chamber property and possibly blocking a vehicle from gaining access into the parking area.
“We spoke with everybody involved on both sides and nothing seemed to be too out of sorts. Protesters were within their first amendment rights and were not on the property, so once that got sorted out, things slowly wound down…There were no crimes that needed further police assistance, and we were able to leave shortly after arriving,” Wiechman told WTAQ News. “I have not seen or heard of that before however I did find out from another employee that they do recall something similar happening a few years back.”
No violations were observed, and no citations were written.
