GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Brown County health officials say they will be using a new COVID-19 contact tracing process that will save time.
Instead of receiving a phone call, individuals who test for positive for COVID-19 may receive a survey, via email.
“We heard that receiving a phone call takes a lot of time for those who test positive for COVID-19,” said Brown County public health officer, Anna Destree. “We wanted to streamline the contact tracing process so that it’s easier and more convenient for folks. It will also help slow the spread and keep the Brown County community safe and healthy.”
The survey platform that will be used is called JotForm and can be directly sent to an individual’s e-mail, if they provide it at the time of testing.
“If you provide your email at the time of testing, we will be able to then email you a survey directly and you can fill it out at your own pace and a time that’s convenient for you,” said Brown County public health strategist Claire Paprocki. “One of our contact tracers gave some feedback that they called someone and that person answered and was like, ‘Hey, actually could you email me that?’ So we’re just trying to provide more options to people to meet them where they’re at…We’ve heard a lot of feedback from people saying they don’t like the phone call, but we’ve also heard feedback saying they’d prefer a phone call. So just, again, trying to provide a lot of options for people so we can meet them where they are.”
The survey is HIPAA protected and the information collected will only be used for Brown County’s contact tracing process.
Health officials encourage everyone who receives this survey to complete it to help keep the community safe and stop the spread.
