LA CROSSE, WI (WTAQ) – All Kwik Trip gas pumps across the chain’s 800 stores are now pay at the pump or prepay inside only.
The La Crosse-based company says the move is aimed at limiting profit loss by eliminating drive-offs, or those who select the pay inside option, then drive off immediately after filling their tank without going inside to complete the transaction.
The company announced the move in late November and posted signs at all locations to inform customers throughout the month of December.
Many followers praised the move, hoping it would lead to better prices for other items in the store while others said it could save their wallets in the long run by eliminated the need to go inside and make impulse buys on food and other snacks.
Kwik Trip operates stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. Stores in Iowa use the Kwik Star branding to avoid confusion with another convenience store chain that has a similar name.
Kwik Trip will be expanding to South Dakota this year as well with a new store in Brandon along Interstate 90 and plans for other locations in the greater Sioux Falls area.
