GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Jackson Pointe CITGO on Packerland Drive in Green Bay was a popular place on Thursday, after people learned someone had won an estimated $316.3 million jackpot after buying a ticket there.
Even after there was time to let it sink in that the store sold a piece of the 7th largest jackpot in history – manager Mary Willems and owner Ralph Calloway were still in shock.
“I wasn’t even thinking about the figure, I was just thinking about – ‘Is that what she said? Did I hear that?’ It kind of sunk in a little bit later on. And it wasn’t even about the amount of money that they won, it was that ‘Oh my god, there was a winner at this store,’” Willems told WTAQ News.
“I thought she was kidding, but then she said ‘No. Be here at 2:00. It’s serious,’” Calloway said. “What would I do with it? Spend it…but I already knew it wasn’t me because I checked my tickets this morning.”
Both of them were hoping the winner walks in with a familiar face.
“We have a lot of regulars, a lot of locals who come in here every day. I see them every morning, I know their name, I know where they work,” Willems said.
“It’s really cool, and we’re hoping it’s one of our regulars,” Calloway added.
Dave is one of those regulars. But we caught him with a gas nozzle in his hand, rather than a life-altering lotto ticket.
“I can’t comprehend what I would do with it. I really can’t. And it’s a shame they have to share it with someone in California,” Dave said. “Good luck to them, and I hope I know them because I’m from this area. So, we’ll find out!”
The winner will be splitting a prize of $632.6 million with another winner, who bought their ticket at a 7-Eleven store in Sacramento, California.
The winners have a cash option of splitting $450 million.
When we asked Dave how many times he could use that money to fill up his truck?
“Maybe seven or eight, based on these prices,” Dave laughed.
But no matter how long it takes for the winner to come forward, the CITGO on Packerland Drive will likely see an influx of people looking to get lucky.
“We’ll see what the rest of the week brings with people coming in. I’m sure it’ll be crazy,” Willems said.
Officials say the winner has yet to come forward.
