ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A crash Tuesday in Ashwaubenon was a result of a law enforcement chase.
Brown County sheriff’s deputies say members of the Drug Task Force were doing an investigation in the 1300 block of Cormier Road. Around 2 p.m., a vehicle left a home and headed east on Cormier. Deputies tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver did not stop.
When it reached the True Lane intersection, the vehicle abruptly stopped and tried to turn to the north. The vehicle made contact with the front passenger corner of an undercover vehicle. As a result, the suspect vehicle spun out and went up on the curb. The driver then accelerated and hit the front of a second DTF officer’s vehicle while the officer was trying to position himself for a high-risk traffic stop.
The suspect was taken to the hospital for possibly having swallowed narcotics. Investigators plan to hold him in jail.
A DTF investigator was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators then searched the home the suspect had left. Drug charges are expected to be recommended to the district attorney’s office as a result of the search.
