APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — It’s a Lawrence University tradition that’s been running for more than five decades.
A dozen trivia masters are gathered in Briggs Hall, helping to write questions.
Teams from on and off campus are answering them for the next 50 hours.
Organizers say it’s all about having fun, winning useless prizes and not getting a lot of sleep.
“Our style of trivia is not your average style of trivia,” said Riley Newton, Great Midwest Trivia contest headmaster. “It’s more like internet, sort of riddles and searches, very, very obscure information. It’s all open internet, open book, open any resource. Most people need to use Google to find the answers.”
The student-produced contest is being streamed on Twitch. It ends at midnight on Sunday.
