SEYMOUR, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Seymour Community School District remodeling project will better prepare students for high-demand jobs.
The district broke ground Friday on its $6.55 million technical education facility.
The project will build separate and expanded spaces for woods, metals and welding classrooms to improve workflow and safety. It will also make space for a home construction class, automotive technology lab and small engine repair area. The project will also improve site safety by changing traffic configurations, creating drop-off areas, and expanding parking.
Business manager for the Seymour Community School District, Pete Kempen, says these new spaces reflect the types of jobs the community needs filled.
“We started having discussions with community leaders about three years ago on what we need for this community and it was resounding that tech ed. and workers in that area; we needed to develop the trades.”
In April of 2021, voters passed the $6.55 million referendum.
The project is expected to be complete in November of this year.
