ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Full capacity with no COVID-19 restrictions; that’s what organizers say will greet players, coaches and fans when they go to the Resch Center.
Right across the street from the Resch Center, Stadium View Bar, Banquet and Restaurant is anticipating a boost during the WIAA girls basketball tournament in Ashwaubenon.
Kelly Hewitt has worked at Stadium View since she was a teenager.
“You get to know a lot of these families over the years,” Hewitt said.
Now, as the sports bar manager, she says, “We start heavy prepping on Monday. All hands on deck all week.”
Hewittt says it means employees will be working doubles to accommodate the thousands of people rushing the Resch Center for the return of the girls basketball tournament.
“It’s our chance to comeback to Green Bay,” said Kate Peterson-Abiad, assistant director at the WIAA.

The 2020 tournament started with limited fans just as COVID-19 was beginning to spread.
Games were canceled after the first day. Then, last year’s tournament was split between Oshkosh and La Crosse.
“Maybe we can break some records and get some people out here because you’ve you know show that you’ve missed the girls being here,” Peterson-Abiad said.
Brad Toll, President and CEO of Discover Green Bay, says the tournament brings in over $2 million to the area as game day visitors will check out other local attractions.
“We have a table that we always have here at the tournament to help visitors find things to do, folks will head over to Lambeau Field, those days pre-COVID which will be wonderful,” Toll said.
And as for Hewitt, “We utilize everyone that’s already here, so, we’re all gonna be working a lot this week.”
The tournament will wrap up this weekend, and tournament play starts today.
