WINNEBAGO COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK)– The Winnebago County Board of Supervisors voted to authorize a project to build a residential complex for violent sex offenders.
The project will receive just over $1 million in funding.
The complex will be built in a rural area of Oshkosh.
Violent sex offenders have to follow strict rules after their sentence is complete, which can make it difficult to find accommodating housing.
They also have to reside in the county that they are from, according to a law signed in 2018.
This complex would solve the issue counties are having when trying to find appropriate housing for violent offenders.
