MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – One man was arrested for allegedly setting fire to Manitowoc bar’s garage early Monday morning.
The fire at Van’s Bar, 426 N. 9th Street, damaged the garage and the contents inside, plus a camper and vehicle in the area were damaged, and nearby buildings suffered exterior damage, according to a police probable cause statement.
The suspect, Alex Braun, 27, has not charged but could appear in court Thursday afternoon. Police are requesting charges of arson and disorderly conduct.
He was seen on surveillance cameras on the property.
Braun “could not recall specifics to why the fire occurred and thought possibly he had dropped his light (sic) cigarette, and confirmed that video would be accurate,” the statement reads.
The statement contains no damage estimate. No one was injured.
Police expect to release more information today.
