TOWN OF BYRON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Milwaukee man with an active warrant was arrested following a high-speed chase in Fond du Lac County.
It started around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday when a deputy spotted a vehicle speeding on I-41 in the area of County Highway B in the Town of Byron.
When the deputy turned his emergency lights on, the vehicle continued to drive away.
After getting off and on I-41, the suspect vehicle got off at County Highway B and went east. A pit maneuver was successfully completed and the suspect lost control of the vehicle and it came to a stop on the bridge over I-41.
When the suspect refused to get out of the vehicle, deputies assisted him through the driver side window and he was taken into custody.
The suspect complained of having difficulty breathing and was taken to the hospital for medical clearance.
Deputies learned the 26-year-old man was on probation for a hit and run causing injury and first-degree reckless endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon.
He is now facing additional charges, including felony fleeing/eluding and criminal resisting and receiving citations for fail to stop at a stop sign, speeding, operating with a suspended driver license, improper plates, and possession of marijuana.
No law enforcement officer was injured in the 9.5 mile pursuit.
