APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — With the most recent winter storm behind us, the city of Appleton surprisingly didn’t see too many traffic accidents.
Appleton Police Chief, Polly Olson, says that the smaller weather event that happened before last weeks storm saw more accidents.
“When we had just a thin layer of snow out there and everyone was out working and nothing was closed down, we had a large number of crashes in a very short period of time.” said Olson.
During winter weather events, the department takes extra caution in making sure their equipment is staged and ready to go; especially their UTV.
“In the event that some of our vehicles would be having difficulty getting through the snow, we make sure that’s gassed up and that all of our maintenance is completed.” said Olson.
Officials remind you to always allow for extra travel time and slow down when driving in inclement weather.
