FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Fond du Lac Area Women’s Fund is doing more than just celebrating this International Women’s Day.
The group — which aims to facilitate “bold change” for Fond du Lac area women and girls — met with Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez Wednesday.
Meeting with politicians is one way to make change, according to Fond du Lac Area Women’s Fund Maria Turner.
“Anytime you can get the ear of an elected official is hugely important because the way that we bring about change is to affect systems. So, systems that include government, that include areas where there is power — and that is definitely in the political realm,” she explained.
Apart from advocacy, the group also works with nonprofits and brings relevant education to the area.
