TOWN OF SEYMOUR, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A barn and shed were destroyed, and a house damaged, by a fire Tuesday night in the town of Seymour.
The Seymour Rural Fire Department says it was called to a property on Cicero Road just before 6:15 p.m. When crews arrived, the shed was engulfed in flames, and heat and embers had started some grass fires nearby. One of the grass fires spread to the barn on the property.
Two animals died in the barn. Several other animals were able to escape.
Firefighters were able to save the house, which was 50 feet away and downwind. The house is livable despite having heat damage on the outside.
No injuries to people were reported.
Cicero Road was closed for about four hours during the firefighting efforts.
Fire danger was very high for Outagamie County on Tuesday as a result of the dry and unseasonably warm weather. Gov. Tony Evers declared a state of emergency on Wednesday as fire danger reached extreme levels for the southern half of the state.
