GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Law enforcement agencies across the country participated in the DEA’s 24th national Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.
They are also an opportunity for people to properly dispose of their old medications.
“These dangerous drugs, if you’re dumping them down the toilet or something like that, there is trace amounts of the drug showing up in the water system and things like that,” said Dylan Davis, a community resource officer for the Grand Chute Police Department.
647,163 pounds of drugs were collected nationwide on the last drug take back day, which was last October.
Most law enforcement agencies have drop boxes available year-round.
