GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Erin Schweitzer was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for a fatal drunk driving crash in 2019.
She was also placed on supervised release for three years after that at Thursday’s hearing. Schweitzer, 43, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the death, for which she received nine years in prison, and two counts of assault resulting in serious bodily injury, which netted a three-year consecutive sentence.
According to federal court documents, the crash happened on April 18, 2019 on the Menominee Reservation, when Scheweitzer’s vehicle crashed into an oncoming vehicle, killing a passenger, Kenny LaTender, and injuring two other people.
Her BAC at the time was .238, nearly three times the legal limit, and she also had THC in her system, court documents state.
Schweitzer was convicted in state court of OWI-third offense in 2008, and was sentenced to 60 days in jail. In 2006, she was sentenced to five days in jail for her second offense.
