GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The Green Bay Packers schedule for the upcoming season has arrived; but sometimes the games are about more than just the football.
Nick Meisner with Discover Green Bay says local hotels get busy when the season announcement comes out.
“We know it’s our hotel partner’s busiest days of the year with the phones and the bookings coming in,” said Meisner. “For Packer games, we usually fill up between 90-95% for those home game weekends.”
It’s not just the hotels that benefit from the extra travelers the games bring; it’s also restaurants, local attractions, and more. A new visitor center for Discover Green Bay is being built just in time for the start of the season.
“Sure, people may be here to see the Packers, but we hear so often ‘I had no idea Bay Beach was open, and I had no idea about the New Zoo’ and this will be a place to encourage them to explore more of the area,” said Meisner.
Each Packers home game brings in about $15 million in total economic impact; regardless of the time of game or the team played.
