Chalk up another major senior title for Wisconsin’s Steve Stricker. The Edgerton native defeated his 2020 Ryder Cup captain rival Padraig Harrington on the first playoff hole Sunday in Frisco, Texas to capture the PGA Senior Championship. What made the weekend even more special was having his daughter Izzi on the bag as his caddie. Both players finished the 72 holes at 18 under par. On the first extra hole, the par five 18th, Harrington hit his tee shot into tall weeds right of the fairway. His second shot was chopped into the water. Hitting four, Harrington delivered a fantastic recovery to the green. Stricker meanwhile, played conservatively, laying up and reaching the green in three. When Harrington’s par putt slid past the cup, Stricker two putted for the victory. It was his second straight major title on the senior circuit, having won the Traditions tournament a month ago. Next up is the US Senior Open June 29-July 2 at SentryWorld in Stevens Point.
