DOOR COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Gov. Tony Evers visited Jacksonport in Door County Wednesday afternoon to highlight coastal communities who won the Coastal Management Grant.
Evers announced Wednesday that he would be awarding $1.4 million in grants to Wisconsin’s coastal communities.

That includes $29,434 for the Wisconsin Historical Society to expand the state’s documentation of maritime resources. The society will be investigating shorelines associated with historic lumber and quarry piers in Door County.
“Kind of capturing that information is important not just for people to understand the history but, you know, helps bring more tourism to Door County people and actually scuba and take a look at what’s going on,” said Evers.
Additionally, Sister Bay will receive $14,5000, the town of Washington will receive $9,5000 and the Town of Egg Harbor will receive $9,000.
