Sure, now it rains. After a month of dry weather, showers have settled across the state today, disrupting the WIAA Boys State Baseball Tournament. The WIAA announced Tuesday morning the games will be delayed until 5:30 PM at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium with the Division 4 semifinals. The gates will open at 4:00 PM. The Division 3 semifinals, originally set to begin at 2:30 PM Tuesday, have now been pushed to Wednesday but the entire schedule to fit those games in along with semifinal games in Divisions 2 and 1 has yet to be determined.
Play did get underway Monday with quarterfinals in Division 1. The Hortonville Polar Bears moved on with a 3-0 shutout of Middleton. Thomas Burns fired a complete game three hitter with 8 strikeouts for Hortonville. They will face Franklin which advanced with a 9-8 victory over Burlington. Stevens Point defeated Hartford 6-5 and Whitefish Bay outlasted Menomonee Falls 7-5 in 8 innings.
