(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Chicago Cubs 6-5 Thursday afternoon at American Family Field in Milwaukee when Brewers catcher Victor Caratini hit a solo home run off Michael Fulmer in the eighth inning.
The home run broke a 5-5 score.
The Cubs had just tied the game in the top half of the inning on Yan Gomes’ 2-run home run off of Brewers pitcher J.C. Mejia.
Christian Yelich had put the Brewers up 5-1 in the fifth inning when he hit a 3-run home run – his 11th home run off of the season – off Chicago starting pitcher Marcus Stroman.
Mejia got the win for Milwaukee with Joel Payamps getting the save.
The Brewers will open a 3-game weekend series with the Cincinnati Reds in Milwaukee Friday night.
