GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A woman at the center of an Ashwaubenon murder was charged Friday with allegedly hampering the investigation.
Keilana Brunette, 21, is facing four counts of aiding a felon and four counts of obstruction for allegedly repeatedly lying to police during the investigation into the March 1 murder of Braxton Phillips at an apartment on Viking Drive.
Prez Wade allegedly killed Phillips, his best friend, because he was upset Phillips was involved with Brunette, the mother of Wade’s child, prosecutors said.
Wade is scheduled to return to court Aug. 3 for a preliminary hearing. However, court records indicate his attorney has requested to withdraw from the case. If granted, a new attorney may not be in place for that hearing.
As of Brunette, according to the 33-page criminal complaint filed Friday, she admitted lying to police during early interviews about the case.
“Keilana admitted to misleading law enforcement officers because she was trying to help Prez. She then admitted to giving the correct information later, but admitted to initially giving wrong information,” the complaint states.
Phillips died of a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the autopsy cited in Wade’s complaint.
