FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Five people face charges after a man who had overdosed on drugs was found lying on a Ripon sidewalk.
Around 6:30 a.m. on April 7, officers were dispatched to the area of Scott Street and Stanton Street for a report of a person lying on the sidewalk. The 18-year-old has not been identified.
This week, four people appeared in court after being charged with party to the crime of first-degree reckless homicide-drug delivery, among other counts:
- Michael Manske, 21, is being held on a $250,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing is set for July 28.
- Donavyn Mueller, 17, is being held on a $250,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 5.
- Joseph Schmidt-Rehbein, 16, is being held on a $200,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 5.
- Maison Springston, 17, is being held on a $200,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 5.
A fifth suspect, Olivia Nordvold, 17, was charged with maintaining a drug trafficking place. She returns to court Aug. 3 for a preliminary hearing. She was released on a signature bond, court records show.
According to the criminal complaint, witness information led police to search the Scott Street residence where Manske and Nordvold lived.
“During the warrant, SRO Michels spoke with Olivia. Olivia stated that victim 1, Maison, and Joey came to her house. While at the house, Joey removed pill from his wallet, which Olivia believed to be Percocet, gave them to victim 1, and he, Maison, and Victim 1 snorted the drug through a rolled-up dollar bill. Olivia told Michels after Victim 1 did this, he started nodding off, and then his lips started turning blue and he started going unconscious. Olivia reported that they had a pulse oximeter, that they put on Victim 1’s finger and observed his pulse went from 115 to 41,” the complaint states. “During the warrant, Officer Watry spoke with Michael Manske, and he said that once Victim 1 started overdosing he told Maison and Joey to get him out of his house. Olivia said that Joey put Victim 1 over his shoulder and walked out the West door of the residence.”
Mueller allegedly was also involved in the drug sale to the victim, the complaint states.
The Medical Examiner listed Bromazolam and Fentanyl toxicity as the cause of death, according to the complaint.
In Wisconsin, those between the ages of 10 and 16 facing certain homicide counts are initially charged in adult court. They can request a move to juvenile court at a later stage in the case, but such requests not subject to approval by a judge.
