GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The part of a Green Bay building that was damaged after a minivan crashed into it, is expected to start being demolished Wednesday, according to police.
Sunday’s crash caused a portion of the Main Street Commons building on Main Street to collapse, spilling debris into the roadway.
Initial reports by witnesses indicate reckless driving as a cause of the crash.
Police say after talking with the city inspections department, the non-damaged part of the Main Street Commons building is expected to remain.
Businesses within the damaged part of the building, including The Main Salon and Spa, are displaced.
Both the driver of the minivan, a 29-year-old Green Bay woman, and the passenger of the minivan, a 27-year-old Oneida man, sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries.
The driver was arrested and is expected to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
Main Street between St. George Street and N. Irwin Avenue is expected to remain closed through Friday.
