GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Brown County is investing in mental health resources for kids.
The county presented a check for nearly $40,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin Tuesday.
The funding comes from the county’s 2023 allocation of COVID-19 relief funds to help local non-profit organizations.
“We decided to apply for mental health first aid training,” said Monica McClure of Big Brothers Big Sisters. “Mental health first aid training is the first response to a child that is in crisis, so our staff members are being trained within this specific mental health first aid so we’ll be able to educate other adults on the signs and symptom of a child in a crisis.”
The funding follows the U.S. surgeon general’s calls for more money for mental health resources in 2021.
