FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A 46-year-old man will spend the next decade and a half behind bars for attacking a Fond du Lac police officer.
Jayson Keniston was sentenced Thursday to 14 years in prison, followed by 15 years of extended supervision.
In May, Keniston was convicted of nine counts, including battery to a police officer and resisting an officer causing great bodily harm. He was acquitted of one count of strangulation, according to a court official.
According to Fond du Lac police and the criminal complaint, officers responded to an apartment building on E. Merrill Avenue for a disturbance on Jan. 13, 2022. Officer Marcus Clapper encountered Keniston in the hallway. The officer asked other residents to return to their apartments, when Keniston attacked.
Clapper, a four-year veteran of the department, suffered a broken nose, fractured finger and other non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated at a hospital and released.
