GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – 11 students from Sanger B. Powers Correctional Center graduated from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) on Thursday, paving the way for a brighter future by earning a college diploma.
This 15-week NWTC program is part of a collaboration between the college and the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (DOC). It is in its fourth year and has graduated 44 students to date.
The students graduated with a certificate in Industrial Maintenance, providing them with employable skills within the DOC or after they are released.
“The magnitude and the rigor of the courses that they’re taking is really, really high, and to get that done in 15 weeks says a lot about them and their commitment to succeeding,” said Molly Delsart, an electromechanical Instructor at NWTC.
