ALGOMA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Soar On The Shore Kite and Beach Festival returns to Algoma’s Crescent Beach on Saturday, August 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The 9th annual kite flying event is free and family-friendly. Experience a sky filled with giant kites of all shapes and sizes!
Unique Flying Objects of Two Rivers, the WI Kiters Club, the Algoma Area Chamber of Commerce, and Friends of Crescent Beach invite the public to enjoy the beauties of the lakeshore.
Offerings include stunt kite flying to music, a kite candy drop, a kite necklace craft with C.T.I. Hospitality, a kite suncatcher craft with Art Beet Kewaunee County, face painting and balloon twisting with Mischief and Magic, a scavenger hunt, beach toys and sand castle tools, and more.
There will also be an 11:30 a.m. cannon firing and maritime history open chat with Bob Desh, former Director of the Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay, and an opportunity to meet and greet live reptiles with Peninsula Reptile House.
The public is also encouraged to bring their own kites for flying.
