DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Brown County Fair returns to the fairgrounds in De Pere to celebrate Wisconsin’s rich farming culture from Wednesday, August 16 through Sunday, August 20.
Exhibits and demonstrations include competitions and judging, kids shows and play areas, auctions, a derby, and more.
Mike Hoskens, the fair’s President, says this is a fun and educational experience for all ages.
“We love to showcase all of our exhibitors, especially the youth. You can see the hard work that they put in over the last year on all of these projects. We have over a thousand exhibitors and 5,000 exhibits for the public to come take a peak at,” added Hoskens.
One of the featured attractions for 2023 is a circus, bringing unique acts for attendees to enjoy.
The fair also serves to help recognize the county’s history, traditions, and accomplishments through agriculture, family living, and business.
Madison Wiese is a Dairy Exhibitor who owns her own cattle with her sisters. She has shown her animals at the fair for almost a decade and says she loves every minute of it.
“Dairy farming, I find to be the most rewarding thing that I do. At the end of the day to kind of step back and be like, I accomplished something today and I did that, is very rewarding,” added Wiese.
She now helps mentor and offer opportunities to other 4-H participants.
Attendees can also expect classic fair food and rides at the carnival for additional entertainment.
