GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The N.E.W. Community Clinic is taking the path to wellness on the road.
The clinic, which serves uninsured and underinsured residents in Northeast Wisconsin at brick-and-mortar locations, expanded by introducing a new mobile unit Friday.
The new mobile unit can provide basic dental and medical services, including vaccinations, blood work, urgent care for ear, nose and throat as well as preventative care and screenings for cancer. It also includes a dedicated dental bay, equipped with a compact x-ray machine.
The mobile unit will partner with area non-profits to provide much needed off-site services.
One of those organizations is House of Hope, which serves young parents experiencing homelessness and their children.
Shannon Wienandt, executive director of House of Hope, says children and young people are most at need for receiving the services.
“They need programs like the mobile dental unit to access care and dental care services and we know the mobile unit will provide a more convenient and affordable resource to the families that we’re serving that’s not currently available in our community now,” she said.
The goal for N.E.W. Community Clinic is to use the mobile unit approximately 20 hours of service per week, year-round while serving approximately 700 patients annually.
The mobile unit was funded by local and federal ARPA grants.
