ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A new Ashwaubenon branch of the Brown County Library would be placed in a new senior housing apartment building, under a plan being reviewed by the village’s Plan Commission next week.
The Brown County Library has been looking at a replacement for the current Ashwaubenon branch, located at 1060 Orlando Drive. $7.5 million in funding from the county sales tax has been designated for the project.
The new project — dubbed “The Promenade” — would be located at 2305 San Luis Place. The site currently includes the former San Luis Manor nursing home, which will be torn down.
The plan calls for 83 apartments, with a mix of 1- and 2-bedroom spaces, a small café, and the library.
“Additional exterior amenities for the apartments include pickleball courts, Amphitheatre, pool, deck, grilling station, turf area for fitness classes and seating area. Exterior amenities for the library include a butterfly garden, drive-thru book drop, and plaza areas,” states the memo submitted with the agenda.
At the same meeting, the Plan Commission is also scheduled to review plans for a Cambria Suites Hotel, proposed for South Oneida Street.
The meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Village Board Room at Village Hall, 2155 Holmgren Way.
