APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — NAMI Fox Valley, an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will host its annual NAMIWalks fundraiser on Saturday at Fox Cities Stadium. Check in begins at 8:15 a.m. with the walk starting at 9 a.m.
The 5K walk through the nature trails near the Fox Cities Stadium and the Fox Valley Tech campus seeks to raise money for mental health programs in the community.
Those interested can register individually or as a team at namiwalks.org/foxvalley.
Registration is free, but participants are asked to help raise funds by encouraging their personal networks to donate in support of their participation in the walk.
Participants raising at least $100 will receive an event T-shirt.
NAMI Fox Valley hopes to raise $100,000. Currently, they’re only $5 thousand away from reaching their goal. All funds raised stay local, supporting NAMI Fox Valley’s free mental health programs that reach over 10,000 participants each year.
“Mental health is the cornerstone of our overall well-being and the foundation we build our lives and relationships on,” said Maren Peterson, NAMI Fox Valley Executive Director. “Prioritizing mental health is not just an option, it’s an essential investment in our happiness, resilience, and the future we envision.”
Hundreds of Fox Valley residents are expected to participate in this year’s walk to celebrate mental health recovery, to let community members know they are not alone, and to honor the memory of loved ones lost to suicide.
