(WNFL) – The WIAA girls state individual tennis tournament continues today in Madison. Area girls advancing to today include in Division 1 singles, Julia Gurholt of Kimberly and Karlie Schock of Bay Port; in Division 1 double, Sonja Mau and Brianna Owens of Kimberly; Ana Cristescu and Lillianna Graf of De Pere; In Division 2 singles, Kate Jannette of Xavier, Adel Schneider of St. Mary Catholic and in Division 2 doubles, Kassadi Clames and Emily Vogle of St Mary Catholic and Gabby Stamme and Grace Ogden of Xavier. Singles and doubles champions will be crowned tomorrow.
Closing the curtain on football’s regular season: It’s the final regular season night of the WIAA high school football season. The biggest game is probably Bay Port vs West De Pere. The winner gets the Fox River Classic Conference north division title. Both teams are 6-0 in conference play. Notre Dame has already won a share of the Fox River Classic Conference south division title. If the Tritons beat Manitowoc tonight, they will the title outright. Luxemburg-Casco is at Wrightstown tonight. If L-C wins, they win the Northeastern Conference title outright. If they lose, they’ll share with Wrightstown. Xavier has the Bay Conference title wrapped up.
WIAA football playoffs: The WIAA will announce its football playoff pairings on Saturday. First-round games will be played next Friday.
