MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A description has been issued for the man suspected of shooting another person during an apparent armed robbery attempt in Manitowoc over the weekend.
At approximately 12:30 p.m. Saturday, the Manitowoc Police Department was dispatched to an apartment in the 2700 block of Viebahn Street after receiving a report that an individual had been shot.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but police say the suspect fled the scene on foot prior to arrival of law enforcement. A search for the suspect is ongoing.
Based on several witness interviews, officials formulated the following description of the suspect:
- African American male
- 5’9″ to 6’0″ tall
- 30s in age
- Short black hair
- Clean shaven
- Slim build
- Wearing dark colored clothing
- May have facial injuries as a result of the altercation with the victim
Police say the incident was not a random attack, rather directed specifically at the intended victim. Results from the Madison Crime Lab may help identify the suspect.
