OMRO, WI (WTAQ) — A person has been pronounced deceased as a result of a traffic crash near Omro.
On Friday at 4:05 p.m., the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office along with the Omro Rushford Fire Department, Utica Fire Department, Oshkosh Fire Department, and the Wisconsin State Patrol responded near the intersection of STH 91 and Knott Rd in the Town of Omro for a two-vehicle crash involving a pickup truck and an ATV.
Upon arrival, first responders discovered that the operator of the ATV was deceased. The deceased driver’s identity is being withheld at this time pending notification to the family.
The driver of the pickup truck was transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office. Crash Reconstruction Team members, Drone Unit, and the Winnebago County Medical Examiner’s Office are all assisting with this crash investigation. They were also aided by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office Chaplains, Victims Crisis Responders (VCRs), the Winnebago County Highway Department, and Expert Towing.
The roadway is still closed to allow for investigation and cleanup. It is expected that the road will remain closed for several hours. The detour is James Rd. to CTH K to CTH FF.
