GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Bellin Hospital in Green Bay will be conducting two missing child drills in December.
The first drill will take place today, and the second will be held Monday, Dec. 18.
“Preparedness is key in any emergency situation, and these missing child drills are an important aspect of our ongoing efforts to keep our patients and community members safe,” said Dave Kobielak, Bellin Health Emergency Management Coordinator. “By conducting these drills, we are able to test our response protocols and identify areas for improvement in our procedures, ensuring that we are well-prepared to respond quickly and effectively to potential emergencies.”
The drills will involve scenarios in which a child is missing within the hospital, and staff members will be tasked with responding quickly and appropriately to locate the child and ensure their safe return to their guardians.
The drill will include overhead page announcements that will be audible throughout the hospital. These announcements will clearly state that the scenario is a drill only.
Bellin Health officials say these exercises are crucial to their commitment to maintaining a secure environment for all patients, visitors and staff.
In addition to missing child drills, Bellin Health regularly conducts a variety of other initiatives and trainings to help keep its patients and communities safe. This
includes active shooter trainings, fire drills, and emergency response preparedness education for staff members across the organization.
“Ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors and care teams is our top priority at Bellin Health,” Kobielak said. “By continuously practicing and refining our response protocols through drills and trainings, we are better equipped to handle any emergency situation and provide the highest level of care to those in need.”
