AUBURN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – An arrest was made in a Fond du Lac County crash that killed a woman and ejected her four passengers from the vehicle.
Deputies say a 19-year-old West Bend man is in custody on suspicion of hit and run-causing death in connection with the New Years Eve crash.
Just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, emergency responders were called to a one-vehicle crash on Highway 45 near Sandy Road in the town of Auburn.
Officials say a vehicle traveling southbound entered the west ditch, striking a culvert. The vehicle then overturned several times before coming to a rest. There were five occupants inside the vehicle, four were ejected during the crash.
After being ejected from the vehicle, the driver, a 19 year-old Hartford woman, was struck by another vehicle. She was drug from the scene and located by deputies three miles from the initial crash site. The woman was pronounced deceased.

Deputies say the the man in custody struck the 19-year-old woman and fled the scene.
The other four occupants inside the vehicle were injured:
17-year-old male passenger from Iron Ridge – transported by ambulance to Froedert Hospital Milwaukee with critical injuries
16-year-old female passenger from Theresa – transported by ambulance to Children’s Hospital Milwaukee with serious non-life threatening injuries
17-year-old passenger from Milwaukee – transported by ambulance to Froedert West Bend with minor injuries
21-year-old passenger from Iron Ridge – transported by civilian vehicle to Aurora Medical Center Washington County with serious non-life threatening injuries
The crash remains under investigation.
