ALLOUEZ, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The planned closure of Langlade Elementary School will be discussed at a village meeting Thursday.
As part of efforts to cope with declining enrollment, the Green Bay Area Public School District has voted to close six elementary schools, including Langlade in Allouez. Under Scenario C — the latest plan under consideration by the district — students at Langlade would move to Doty and Webster elementary schools.
“The meeting is a neighborhood meeting with Langlade parents and interested parties to discuss the proposed consolidation of Langlade into Doty,” said village clerk Carrie Zittlow.
The school district is not planning to have a representative there, according to Zittlow and a district spokesperson.
Langlade Elementary, 400 Broadview Dr., is located next to the YMCA in Allouez. The district’s website lists its 4K-5 enrollment as 280+.
The district says the closures of MacArthur, Langlade and Elmore will happen no sooner than the 2026-27 school year. A referendum is planned for November, which would include improvements and additions at other schools – such as Doty – to accommodate the boundary changes.
The meeting is at 6 p.m. at the Allouez Village Hall, 1900 Libal St.
