(LAWRENCE ATHLETICS) ASHLAND, Wis. — The Lawrence University women’s hockey team scored twice in the final eight minutes of the third period Friday to post a 4-2 nonconference victory over Northland College at the Bay Area Civic Center.
Lawrence broke a 2-2 tie on Emma Perry’s power-play goal with 7:17 left and then added another goal less than three minutes later to secure the win.
The game was tied in the third period when Northland’s Yvonne Durfee’s was whistled for cross checking with 7:47 remaining. Lawrence (2-6-1) cashed in on the ensuing power play for a 3-2 lead when Perry scored off assists from Kate Holtz and Sofia Alvarez. Lawrence finished 1-for-3 on the power play, and Northland was 0-for-2.
The Vikings made it 4-2 with 4:22 left on Beth McArthur’s goal with Perry and Lauren Askenazy collecting assists.
The Lumberjills (0-6-0) pulled goaltender Zoe Laming in the final minute for an extra attacker but couldn’t pull any closer.
Northland grabbed an early lead on Kennedy Gruhlke’s goal just 18 seconds into the second period. Lawrence tied it at the 14:03 mark of the second when Evelyn Pryadkin scored off assists from Leina Quiniou and Josie Daly.
The Vikings pulled ahead 2-1 on Pryadkin’s goal just 35 seconds into the third period when Perry picking up an assist. Northland tied it on Kyleigh Moffatt’s goal at the 5:52 mark.
Lawrence goaltender Sarah Dobrzynski made 15 saves to pick up the win. Laming finished with 35 saves for Northland. The Vikings piled up a 39-17 advantage in shots on goal.
The teams wrap up the series on Saturday afternoon.

UW-Superior 3, Lawrence University 0
SUPERIOR, Wis. — The Lawrence University men’s hockey team dropped a 3-0 nonconference decision to UW-Superior on Friday at the Superior Showdown.
Lawrence (3-6-1) will face the University of Dubuque in the consolation game on Saturday at Siinto Wessman Arena.
The Yellowjackets (4-2-1) scored midway through the opening period for a 1-0 lead and then went up 2-0 just 30 seconds into the second period. The score stayed that way until Lawrence pulled its goaltender for an extra attacker late in the third period. Superior added an empty-net goal with two seconds remaining the final margin.
Lawrence held a 35-30 advantage in shots on goal.
Lawrence goaltender Nolan Mahaffey made 27 saves, and Superior’s Kobe Grant stopped 35 shots.
