FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Nearly 160 grams of cocaine was seized during a traffic stop on I-41 in late December.
A 32-year-old Appleton man was arrested and remains in custody on a $15,000 cash bond, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Wednesday.
According to authorities, the man was pulled over on I-41 while driving a rental vehicle. He claimed he was driving home after visiting family in the Milwaukee area.
The sheriff’s deputy who conducted the traffic stop “developed reasonable suspicion of illegal drug activity” and requested K9 Ace assist at the scene. The dog was deployed and indicated a positive alert for the presence of narcotics.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 158 grams of cocaine, three cell phones and $622 in U.S. currency. The man was arrested for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and a probation violation. He was on parole for manufacturing/delivering cocaine at the time of the traffic stop.
Police say the man has a criminal history dating back to 2008, with violations including armed robbery, battery, fleeing and eluding and numerous narcotics cases.
