CAMPBELLSPORT, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A volunteer first responder from Campbellsport is in custody after he was accused of having sexual relations with a minor.
Officials say the 34-year-old man served as a volunteer firefighter/EMS provider. He was arrested Saturday following an investigation that revealed “sexual contact with a child.”
The victim was a “known female” and the community is not at risk, officials say. Her age was not released.
According to a news release from the Village of Campbellsport, the man is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on a recommended felony charge of second degree sexual assault of a child.
“We hold all employees and volunteers of the Village of Campbellsport to the highest moral and ethical standards. These allegations are a shock,” said Village Administrator Charlie Kudy. “This individual has betrayed the trust of the Campbellsport Volunteer Fire Department and most importantly our community.”
Kudy says the man was placed on suspended leave at the conclusion of the initial investigation.
More criminal charges may be forthcoming as the Campbellsport Police Department continues to investigate the case.
