(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) – The No. 21/22 Marquette University men’s basketball team (21-7, 12-5 BIG EAST) hits the road to face Georgetown (16-12, 7-10 BIG EAST) on Saturday, March 1 at 7 p.m. CT from Capital One Arena. Peacock features the broadcast, with John Fanta (play-by-play) and Tarik Turner (analyst) calling the action. Following Saturday’s outing, the Golden Eagles will wrap up the road portion of the regular-season schedule on March 5 at UConn.
Marquette Owns Advantage In All-Time Series
Marquette owns a 24-14 advantage in the all-time series, with the Golden Eagles claiming wins in 14 of the last 17 outings and each of the last seven games.
All but two of the series matchups have come since Marquette joined the BIG EAST in 2005-06.
The programs first met during the 1941-42 campaign and the Hoyas were able to claim a 35-34 victory. The next meeting didn’t come until the 1971-72 season and Marquette posted an 88-44 winning decision.
The Golden Eagles rallied for a 74-66 win over the Hoyas on Jan. 7, 2025 at Fiserv Forum after trailing by as many as 14 points. Guard Chase Ross led all scorers with a career-best 27 points and six steals.
Marquette Lets It Fly In Latest Win
Marquette, which hadn’t knocked down more than 11 3-pointers in a game in any of the team’s previous 10 outings, was 12-of-15 from deep in the first half of Tuesday night’s 82-52 win over Providence.
The Golden Eagles finished the night 17-of-41 from behind the line, marking the most makes in a regulation game since draining 18 against No. 20 Buffalo on Dec. 21, 2018 and the 41 attempts set a new program single-game record (previous was 40 vs. Western Carolina – Nov. 30, 2024).
